E is for Eight Ways to Explore Endangered Animals with ARKive Today's #GETABC (#Green, #Education & #Tech) find takes us to ARKive. ARKive is another perennial favorite of mine...and my daughter's. If you are an animal lover, you'll definitely be eager to eat it up!
I'll leave it to Sir David Attenborough & this video to give you (& your students) an introduction to this collection of 12,000+ species profiles [most threatened, endangered, or even extinct], 7,000+ animal videos, & the 66,000+ animal photographs. Here are 8 ways to explore the world of endangered animals using ARKive in your classroom.
1. Invite your students to find their favorite animals to learn a little bit more about them.
2. Use it as research using the brainstorm sheet below or get it at Slideshare.
3. Search for Teaching Resources by Age Level: Ages 5-7, 7-11, 11-14, and 14-16.
4. Excite your youngsters by inviting them to play some of the ARKive Educational Games.
5. Have students search Animals by Geography & build & expand their mapping skills.
6. Investigate Climate Change and the animals affected by it.
7. Invite your students to send an Eco E-card, or login to create Environmental scrapbooks.
8. Build your resource files as a teacher by visiting Education in Arkive.
Sooo many animals...so little time!!
