Pursuit of the Great Outdoors, Part 2 (Backed By Research)

Good things always have and probably always will come out of Illinois.

Okay, I'll admit it...I'm biased as I was born in Illinois!

However, here's a great follow up to yesterday's Part 1 of our GTG's "The Pursuit of the Great Outdoors" from the University of Illinois' Landscape and Human Health Laboratory.  Over at the Landscape & Human Health Lab, they have researched 6 points and their connection to "green landscaping"...all of which hold great merits and a positive correlation to both the presence of green spaces and being outdoors.  These points are:
  • ADHD Symptoms in Kids Across the US
  • Inner City Girls & Self Discipline
  • Coping in the Inner City
  • Inner City Crime
  • Domestic Violence in the Inner City
  • Building Strong Inner City Communities
You can find all of the above at http://lhhl.illinois.edu/adhd.htm or by simply clicking the title above.  Even better, you can find an infographic such as the one here on the right, as well as an informative PowerPoint presentation for each topic.  The PowerPoints can be downloaded and notes are included so that you can go beyond the straightforward presentation points with additional information if you so desire.  Also, be sure to click around the top menu tabs to find additional links and resources regarding getting out in the great outdoors and battling "Nature Deficit Disorder" (or follow this link:  http://lhhl.illinois.edu/contact.htm).
